Eco-Friendly Fishing
フィッシングもエコ
フィッシングは、エコロジーなスポーツなんだ。
今年の国際フィッシングショー2008のコンセプトです。

切れた糸がそのまま水中に残って動物や人に被害を与えるなど、
あまりエコでないイメージがついている「釣り」。
でも本質的には自然と対話するスポーツということで、
環境に優しい釣り具「エコタックル」を普及させようという動きがあります。
生分解性の糸やワーム、分解菌が入った粉末餌。
特に有害物質の鉛を含まないオモリが１番人気。
ただ、従来の商品に比べて、
バリエーションが少ない、強度が弱いなど、
まだまだ一般的とは言えないようです。
私もたまに釣りをして、釣った魚は食べますが、
命を頂くということを初めて実感したときのことは、
忘れません。
自然にも魚にも思いやりを持って、釣りを楽しみたいですね。

Image of fishing is not so much eco-friendly.
For example, there is a problem that cut line left in the water and harms both animal and human.
Fishing must be essentialy eco-friendly.
"Eco Tackle" is a key method clean away this negative image.
Eco Tackle consists of bio-degradable line and worm, powder bait with decomposing bacteria and so on.
The most popular one is the weight without lead which is harmful substance.
Comparing to other products, there still have problem like; not tough enough, little variety of choice.
To this day, only few people use Eco Tackle.
I also sometime enjoy fishing, and also enjoy eating the fish that I caught.
It was such a strong experience for me to eat something alive.
I would be engage in naturally friendly fishing.

Osprey's Sustainability
オスプレー社のサステナビリティに対する理念のページを見ていて、びっくりしました。
何かというと、Osprey sustainable transportation programです。
「自動車で通勤しない社員に金銭的イニシアティブを払う」。
この理念は２００５年の９月から始まっていて、
これまでに８０、052ｌｂ【36310．94ｋｇ】のＣＯ２排出を防ぐことができているようです。

我々、ＥＮＷでも「仕事では車を使わない！」という理念を作りたいですね。

Since I can't live without outdoor activities, I can’t stop researching on sustainable activities from outdoor companies. In the past I have picked up recycling technology from Osprey outdoor company, and once again, this company has caught my attention! This time, I was looking through their “Sustainability” page, and found interesting statistics from “sustainable transportation program” .

This program pays cash incentives to workers who use non-motorized transport to commute to and from work. And this program is not something new, it is been going on since Septmeber 2005. There are more than 2859 individual has been involved in this effort and managed to prevent 80,052lb of carbon emmissions entering the atmosphere.

Upside Down Boat in Nunavut
先日、私の父が長年乗っていたステーション・ワゴンを下取りにだして
ハイブリッド車を購入いたしました。
長年乗っていたステーションワゴンを手放すのは寂しいものですね。
また、「まだ乗れるのに、もったいない」とも思っていたら、
面白いニュースを見つけました。

夏活躍する船を逆さまに倒し、冬が厳しいヌナブト住民の（カナダ北部の準州）シェルターへ変身！船の物質は強い、しなやか、軽いので寒くて乾燥している場所に役にたちます。
まだ、実験中らしいですが、なんてすばらしいアイディアなのでしょう！
愛着を持った物を捨てるのはもったいない、
ということで新しく活かせる可能性を考えてみる。。。
何かを大切にすることは、新しく「再生」させるということなのかもしれません。
Couple of days ago,my father exchanged his old car to purchase a new hybrid car.
I congratulated him for his eco choice, but at same time losing old car with valuable memories made us sad.While I was day dreaming about keeping our old car to make some use out of it, I encountered to this “prefab house boat”.
What is that upside down boat in the snow?
Covey Island Boatworks and one of Nunavut resident collaboratively bought an idea to use summer boat turned into artic home!
