Profile

Raised in western Canada, with a lot of chances to enjoy the beauty of nature, by my early twenties, I had seen a lot of humanity and countries of the world. After studying marketing at university, I worked with a business consulting company in Tokyo, had a stint as a radio DJ, and became passionate about environmental protection, leading me to the NGO world. For twenty years now, I've worked with NGOs, government bodies, corporations, research institutes involved in the environment and sustainability, mainly as a consultant and translator.

1. Define sustainability in few words.

Harmony between human activities and this planet Earth that sustains us.

2. Who is your inspiration?

David Brower (1912-2000, a visionary environmentalist), David Suzuki (an articulate scientist passionate about our planet), Junko Edahiro (a person who believes anything is possible, and makes it so), and all the children of the world (for whom nothing is impossible).

3. Favorite food?

Green tea icecream.

4. Why are you working for EcoNetworks?

Because this organization thinks outside the box and seeks ways to make positive contributions for a sustainable world.

5. Love Animals?

Our dog Shu, is almost human and a full member of the family. African bush babies also deserve special mention.

6. Who are you? Please define yourself?

If there's a problem, I feel the urge to create a team of people and get to work on it! I want to hear everyone's ideas! When I work, I work, but when I have time off, I like to truly R-E-L-A-X!

7. Favorite word?

"Let's do it together!"

8. Favorite movie or documentary?

Slumdog Millionaire (uplifting), Inconvenient Truth (essential viewing).

9. Favorite books?

"Plan 3.0: Mobilizing to Save Civilization" (Lester Brown).

10. Interest?

I believe that creating art or music is one of the highest human pursuits. Just started learning to play violin. On the more serious side, I'm interested in sustainability, human communications, connecting with nature, and the links between Earth and human history.
